pig wrestling

not much new here. Pig wrestling in town tonight at the Teton County fair which should be awesome. There are two teams from the ranch that are going to be wrestling. a boys team and a girls team. not sure how much the first price team gets, but either way it should be overly entertaining.

Yesterday was wing night.

Monday went hiking into paintbrush canyon. pretty awesome hike but had to turn around to get back to work

Sunday was my day off. literally didn’t do a thing. Did get a call for a phone interview for a job in yosemite this winter. The interview is on friday so i will know more then.

Saturday went white water rafting with 6 of my friends from the ranch. It was awesome. When we were getting off the raft though there were some people looking for a georgia man that i guess had just gone under a few minutes before we got there. The paper says they are still looking for him.

Other than that things have been going really really well. Been applying to jobs for a week or so now, so it is exciting to hear from one of them. I’m thinking yosemite will be cold during the winter… but i am betting it will be beautiful!

cant imagine how hot it must be back home. Been meaning to call you all, and thinking of you always

sunnyside up

things have been going much better. Had some time to get off the ranch and i think that really helps.

Friday morning I worked our cookout we do on the top of shadow mountain. It was gorgeous out and one of the wranglers rode my favorite pony Tank up. I went to go feed Tank a snack, but it seemed he had the same idea and had already untied himself and was eating some wildflowers.

Most everyone gets off work early on fridays so after the cookout we all went down to the Gros Ventre (grow vant) River to drink some beers and swim.

Mike Bobbi and Jebby, huggin it out after getting out of the frezzing water

Unfortunately for my poor little Florida body I was unable to get my entire foot in the river since it was so cold.

On the way home we drove past a pretty large bison herd and stopped and watched them for a little while. Kiwi, Rhet, and I also decided to go the scenic route to the beaver pond on the way home… but once again, no beavers. I keep meaning to look up their living styles to see if maybe they abandoned their lodge, or I keep going to see them at the wrong time of day, but I keep forgetting to.

saw a little bear on the way home too. First one i have seen. He was pretty far away but it was still neat to watch him bounce along the hills.

It was one of the best days ever.

Saturday was also great! worked the morning shift and went camping after work. Just went down one of the park roads off the property so that people that had to work in the morning could still come and hang out by the fire and go home early. Just a handful of us ended up staying the night, but its always great to sleep under the stars.

The mosquitos here are the worst I have ever seen, but on the bright side they only seem to be active at dusk and dawn. Flys also started to come out a week or so ago, pretty disgusting little creatures. Never would have thought the bugs would be worse here than at home.

Went hiking by myself in Granite Canyon on Sunday. Was gorgeous, but everywhere here is, and it wasnt anything too spectacular.

Granite Canyon

Nothing too exciting except a bee tried to pollinate the top of my head for atleast a mile of my hike. Very happy that it did not decide to sting me. Went out to eat at a place in Teton Village afterwards called the Mangy Moose. just a little touristy place.

The person at work i can not stand was offically demoted yesterday, we have a new server, and a set schedule (and i really lucked out with it). I only have to work with her once a week now. So things at work are going much, much better.

Went out to Cuttys for wings last night (i still do not eat wings if you were wondering), and today is payday!

it did rain

but not very much, but everyone ditched out on camping anyways. Been working too much, and not having any adventures. I’m use to working this much but that isnt why i came out here, really starting to defeat the purpose.

Wouldn’t be so bad if I could stand the one person I always seem to be scheduled with. But i can’t. My tolerence has run out.

still haven’t recieved a new server. but supposedly today is the day.

Still having a lot of fun when I am not at work though. Went into town last night to Merry Piglets mexican cantina for Johnnys birthday.

Just been tired. Really happy outside of work, but morale is low. Started applying for winter jobs, nothing seems perfect yet, but hopefully I will find something.

nothing too exciting.

just been working and hanging out. Some nice guest here this week, sat around the fire and talked with them last night. Too bad tonight is their last night though.

Might rain today, but I hope not since I am planning on camping up at Pacific Creek tonight with a few friends since i don’t have to work tomorrow :o)

The server that was suppose to show up is not coming.

Hummingbirds still enjoying their little feeder I got for them

other than that nothing new at all.

missing you guys

hope everything is going well for you all

Been super busy around here. They say they’ve hired another server though, so hopefully we wont have to work over 60 hours anymore.

Had a good day yesterday :o) worked the morning shift (6am-2:30pm), took a nap, and decided to go on an adventure.

Drove behind 2 pronghorns for a while down the drive way until they decided to hop away into the sage brush.

View at Schwabachers Landing, where the beavers are suppose to be

Went down to see the beavers, but they weren’t there again… but ended up seeing a badger instead. Second one i have seen since I have been here, but I just drove by the first one on the highway, so this was much more fun.

He was just digging a hole and I’m not certain what badgers eat but he was digging at all the plants too. He seemed pretty unconcerned with me and a few other people watching him. Pretty neat little animal. What i would really love to see though is a porcupine. Hopefully I will get a chance to watch one of those before the summer is over.

After that I was thinking i wanted to be a tourist and see a moose. So I drove down to Moose, and low and behold i got to watch a bull moose drink from the Snake River. The pictures aren’t that good since I was on the other side of the river, but it is pretty neat that they have their paddles now.

I continued my journey towards Wilson and saw a girl moose

Lady Moose

hanging out. Drinking and eating vegetation out of the bottom of the pond.

I think it  would be nice to be an animal here because there is not much that they have to worry about, but i think it would be extremely annoying to have people taking pictures of you all day while you were trying to eat.

After that i decided to climb to the top of Black Tail Butte.

View from Blacktail Butte

Not a very long hike at all, but just as steep as I remember. Saw 2 mules deer on the way up. They did not seem excited to see me and billy-goated up the hill much faster than I can. It is currently my favorite place to go. It is one of the closest spots to the ranch, with a great view, and I seldom ever see any one else their because it isn’t technically in the park or on the map. From the top you over look the highway, the mountains, and the Snake. From the other side of the top you can see all the way down to Kelly and Mormon Row.

Bought new shoes a few weeks ago, that I love. Been wearing them around. They are great except for hikes like this where i had to go Arizona skiing on the way down, in which case my shoes get full of dirt.

Don’t have to work till 2 today, which is nice. Hopefully I will have to motivation to apply for a few jobs.

hope all is well back home

xo (happy be-lated birthday pretty)

in much more disappointing news… my iPod stopped playing yesterday. I was hoping it was out of battery, but nothing I seem to plug it into brings it back to life…..
